1) The phaser cannon is an add on weapon for Duke3D. It replaces the 
   Freezethrower with a laser cannon, capable of vaporising enemies.
   The phaser cannon comes with two settings, too. Never again will
   a stray shot hurt an innocent civilian! (Unless you want it to...)

2) To install and run the phaser cannon, simply follow these steps:
   1) Unzip the zip file and put ALL the files in the Duke3D folder.
   2) Type 'phaser'.
   3) Choose whether to add or remove the cannon.
   And that's it! The addon will set itself up. Don't worry if you have
   altered con files, the 'phaser' addon will back them up for you and
   restore them when you remove it.

3) Works in single player - when you've shot at a monster enough, 
   they'll vapourise in an explosion and a shower of blood, leaving 
   only a puddle on the floor. Don't worry - the explosion won't
   hurt anything else (like you). Monsters may, however, burst into
   flames - this does hurt.
   Works in dukematch - has the same effect on your opponents as
   on the monsters, vapourises them.
   SOB-BOT compatible - those of you with the excellent SOB-BOT add on
   can play with the phaser too.
   
   The phaser cannon has two settings - kill and stun. Duke will adjust
   these automatically, but basically it means that you won't hit a bystander
   by mistake and spawn a load of aliens. When stunned, dancers turn red.
   Some can be woken up by using 'use' on them. Be warned, the phaser
   cannon produces muscle cramp and dancers that have felt it's effects
   may smash if hurt...

   The phaser cannon has new art and graphics. You may see some 
   old yellow freezethrowers lying around, but don't worry - Duke will steal
   their energy cells and use them for the phaser cannon.

   Oh, and by the way, I've included a new gunsight with the phaser...

4) The phaser cannon can be given to all of your friends and rivals and
   modified, as long as I am given due credit. I worked on hard on this,
   after all. Including this text file would be nice, too.

5) The phaser cannon does not work on Protozoid Slimers. It does on the
   eggs, though.

   The phaser cannon fires red energy bolts, but the discharge is blue.
   I'd tell you why, but it's top secret ... :-)

   The Octobrains do not leave fire behind - sometimes the flame would
   be extremely small and never go out, so I took it off them.

   The phaser cannon does not add a point to your score - it subtracts one
   from the other players.
   I decided to leave this in as a penance - the weapon is quite powerful,
   after all.

6) Version 1.0 - Beta version
   This was the first version.
   
   Version 1.1 - First full version
   Added flame effect when a monster is killed. Removed MP5 artwork which
   had gotten stuck in with the phaser art. Added new gunsight.
   Fixed bug where game did not record the death of enemies killed by the
   phaser.
